Frequently asked questions

How does it search tattoos by description?

You describe the tattoo in your own words, for example "snake wrapped around a rose", and Identicore INK returns the records whose visual content is closest to that concept, ranked by similarity.

Does it work in languages other than Spanish?

Yes. Concept search understands descriptions in different languages, so a query in English or Portuguese finds the same tattoos as one in Spanish.

Can it find tattooed names or phrases?

Yes. For lettering, names and phrases, the search uses the exact tattooed word, which is what an examiner needs when looking for a specific name.

Can I search with a photograph?

Yes. You upload a tattoo image and the system shows the most visually similar records for the examiner to review.

Does it use artificial intelligence?

Yes. An artificial intelligence model links the visual content of tattoos with descriptions in different languages, so a concept search finds tattoos even if nobody tagged them beforehand. It runs on the institution's infrastructure and the final decision always rests with the examiner.

Where are the images stored?

On the institution's infrastructure. Identicore INK is installed on-premise and images are not sent to external services.
